Best of Times, Worst of Times

My favorite scripture in the Book of Mormon is Ether 12:6. "... I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith."

When things go really well for me, they seem to go really bad for me soon after. I think God above knows that this is my favorite scripture because I share it with others a lot and I am put to the test. I know I have a pretty good life. But my life is not perfect, and my life is far from easy.

I have had my faith strengthened by watching others hold on to their faith.

The hard times are hard.

I know that I need to give more recognition to the good times.

  1. This is great on many levels. One thing I've noticed about myself is that I write in my journal more when things are hard or I'm upset and it's better that I just write down what I feel like saying instead of actually saying it. My poor posterity is going to think I was an unhappy or ungrateful person based on just my journal. The only consolation is that I haven't written that often so mostly things must be pretty good. Now, if only I recognized and wrote down all of the good times that I, too often, seem to take for granted...

    1. Thanks for the comment! I think your posterity is going to be great that you were honest. There is so much bad in the world, and I am quick to write down or complain about it. I never seem to recognize the good in the moment.
